Nevis Golf Course at the Four Seasons Nevis Resort
Nevis boasts a spectacular 18-hole championship golf course, designed by award-winning Robert Trent Jones. Located at the Four Seasons Nevis Resort, this par 71 golf course is considered by many top golfers to be one of the best in the world for its beautiful design, panoramic views, brilliantly colored tropical foliage, and lush well-tended greens and fairways. In fact, it was recently named 7th Best Golf Resort by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.
With the exception of key holiday seasons in December and January, when the resort is typically quite full, the course is open to play for people who are not guests of the Four Seasons.
Opened in 1991, the par 70 course has 6,682 yards that wind through tropical foliage and up the slopes of Mt. Nevis and back out again to the sea, providing dramatic views of the Four Seasons Nevis Resort, the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, and the neighbouring island of St. Kitts. If you're lucky, you may also spot one or more of the shy, green vervet monkeys live that amongst the trees.
Full facilities, including a Pro Shop, club and cart rentals, a driving range, a putting green, and golf instruction are available at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course on Nevis. The cost for 18 holes is $175, and a cart rental runs $55 (prices shown are USD).
Although it isn't necessary to stay at the Four Seasons Nevis to play the golf course, visitors who are staying at the Four Seasons Nevis can enjoy one or both of their two complimentary weekly clinics. A golfer's conditioning program is also available for an applicable fee. Also, guests of the Four Seasons Nevis are invited to take part in the 9-hole guest/manager scramble each week (there is a fee for the scramble).
Nevis also offers a small course, Cat Ghaut Chip’n Putt, on Shaws Road in Newcastle. Run by Roger and Peggy Staiger, the 9-hole course is located on 15 acres, which includes a nature trail. For reservations, call 869-469-9826.
And of course, for those who like variety in their golf outings, neighbouring St. Kitts offers a stunning 18-hole championship golf course (the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course) designed by five-time British Open Champion Peter Thompson, as well as a 9-hole course (the Golden Rock Golf Club).
