Nevis International First Feature Film Festival
Its that time of year! Spring is in the air and healing sunshine awaits you in the Caribbean. Nevis is the perfect place to be right about now.
Watching any Caribbean movie always makes me miss the beautiful lands of St. Kitts and Nevis. If you are wanting to get in the mood too, you can watch any movie filmed in the Caribbean. This will surely intise you to travel.
The scenery of the Caribbean has been and is more so being immortalized on film. The people of the islands are also beginning to film on their own, making movies about life in these unique locations.
Most Caribbean nations like Nevis have their own film commission to help would-be filmmakers in the Caribbean get in and out of the country, set up sites, and serve as the local film liaison.
So, why do they do this? Well, mainly because film is a multi-million dollar industry, and these islands offer a wide variety of unique settings, including exotic nature locations and historic colonial buildings. What person doesn’t enjoy the gprgepous Caribbean sites?
Some popular Big Budget films that you might recall are as follows:
-
After the Sunset (2004), The Bahamas
Amistad (1997), Puerto Rico
Apocalypse Now (1979), Dominican Republic
Captain Ron (1992), Puerto Rico
Cocoon I & II (1985, 1988), The Bahamas

Notice that Nevis is not in there! That is because they are just getting started in the industry pretty much!
Mr. Abdul Kareem Ahmed is head of the Mosque in Bath Village and President and CEO of NIF (Nevis International First Feature Film Festival). He knows that there are sufficient artistes, talent, stories and culture in Nevis Island to generate feature films that Nevisians and other Caribbean region countries can view, which will provide positive depictions of and from the Caribbean prospective of Caribbean people.
So what will they do? NIF is seeking to bring film and movie enthusiasts to Nevis to aid in carving new avenues of enterprise for the island. Maybe soon enough we will be able to see beautiful Nevis on the big screens around the world.
You can read more about how NEVIS TAKES BOLD VENTURE INTO THE FILM INDUSTRY!
I hope so!
