A Nevis Boxing Event
The Basil Henderson 4-H Easter Monday Aquatic Sports will be held in Nevis on April 13, 2009.
So, what is it all about and who is in charge of the event?
Mr. Winston “Zack” Nisbett is the organizer of the annual event, and the time has rolled around again for some fun.
He pushes the event, as a way to retain the memories of Mr. Basil Henderson and the association of the 4-H Club, which has been some years defunct, but still holds social significance for him.
He said that this year the Aquatic Sports will place emphasis on boxing. I guess this will be a fun change for the island to witness and partake in.

Young, healthy men, those aged 8 to 20, should participate in healthy boxing ring matches. This is only meant to attain self discipline and control that teaches conflict resolution without the use of deadly weapons fashioning that of the “old time days.”
Nisbett said:
The 4-H served the community well, most of these so-called big shots you see in town came out of the 4-H. Let’s push the 4-H back into the schools, put back moral and ethical values. We need to get the youngsters involved in an array of things. The aquatic sports bring about a community mindedness and community spirit. With all the turbulence, we want to bring back a high moral code.

SUN St. Kitts and Nevis reported that he also said:
This is a way of bringing back boxing as well, to see it in a different light, get the youths involved and set a stage for them to capitalise on.
We don’t want it to be haphazard. We want it to be done in an organised way.
As for the boat races, the Indigo Yacht Club will be volunteering to monitor and make certain the boat races are safe. Winners for the boat races will receive $1,000.
I hope everyone is safe and has a blast!
