Geothermal Energy In Nevis

The sale of Geothermal Energy? This is a big deal! Nations around the world are considering new methods of attaining energy. This is so exciting because it is a renewable resource, unlike our diminishing fossil fuels.

So, what exactly is it? The Energy Information Administration defines geothermal energy as heat from within the earth. It is generated in the earth’s core. We can use the steam and hot water produced inside the earth to heat buildings or generate electricity. Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source because the water is replenished by rainfall and the heat is continuously produced inside the earth.

Premier of Nevis Joseph Parry said recently that the Organization of American States (OAS) has shown a special interest in the development of geothermal energy in Nevis.

It was reported from SKNvibes that the OAS officials called Premier Parry last Tuesday evening to discuss the interest that the organization has to sponsor a team of individuals from Nevis and St. Kitts. They will travel to Washington to meet a number of agents who would like to see the geothermal energy project in moving forward.

The federal government has expressed interest in the sale of geothermal energy to St. Kitts as soon as the alternative energy is ready for export from Nevis Island.

Minister of Communications and Public Utilities in the Nevis Island Administration, Carlisle Powell, has been having continued talks with his counterpart in St. Kitts, Earl Asim Martin, with regard to the sale of geothermal energy.

According to Premier Parry, development of geothermal in Nevis is a stimulus project, which will bring numerous benefits to the island. Besides easing the cost of energy to the consumer, it will also result in great revenue to the treasury of Nevis West Indies.

It is so nice to see nations working together on this matter. Renewable resources are the life lines of the future. Why are renewable resources so sought after. Well because they reduse bills and provide a healthier planet earth.
