Everything you'd want to know about Nevis, West Indies

Christmas Day - A Nevis Gift

Talk about having a TRUE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!

Someone shared their wealth with Nevis Island Nursing Fund. The truly touching thing about this kind donation is that they did not want to be identified as the kind giver!

An unidentified individual donated EC$50,000 to the Nevis Nursing Fund which prompted Minister of Health Hensley Daniel to declare that it was a timely gesture and would certainly boost the Fund.

The Minister told reporters of SKNVibes that the donation was made sometime last week and it would be used for nurses’ capacity building.

Hon. Daniel made the following points in regards to the donation:

1. The 23-year-old Ultra Sound equipment at the Alexandra Hospital would soon be replaced and a specialised X-Ray machine would also be purchased.

2. The indicators of quality health care include infant mortality rate, while declaring that the infant mortality in Nevis was unequalled and surpassed that of developed countries.

3. Another indicator that assesses health care was human resources.

4. There is a resident pediatrician on the island and early in 2009 he would be travelling to Cuba to recruit a specialist in internal medicine.

5. Quality health care is not measured by availability of plasters.

That is one unsurpassed Christmas Gift for Nevis West Indies!
