Celebrating Caribbean Wellness Day In Nevis
Life can get difficult often times and we forget just how important it is to maintain our health; body and mind. We might not care now, but our bad health choices we will pay for in the long run. We really do owe it to ourselves and our loved ones.
“Love that Body” ~ A Day To Celebrate Health in NEVIS, West Indies
Nevis and St. Kitts Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will lead Nevis Island nationals on a Walk For Health next weekend.
Dr. Douglas is the Caribbean’s lead spokesman for Health-related matters in the quasi-cabinet of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). He is expected to lead participants in the walk which leaves the Cayon Health Centre at 5:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 13, 2008.
The Health Promotion Unit, in the Ministry of Health, Social Development, Community and Gender Affairs is coordinating several activities, under the theme “Love that Body.”
“Love That Body” promotes no smoking, daily exercise, use of less salt and fat and checking of blood pressure on the radio programe “A Voice for Health,” with Nurse Christine Wattley on Sunday, September 7, 2008.
Residents can participate in several planned events, including checking of blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI), glucose and lipid, counseling on nutrition and healthy eating habits and promotion of daily exercise at fitness centres.
