Everything you'd want to know about Nevis, West Indies

Cable and Wireless Children’s Carnival

Climate Conditions portrayed at it’s best! Natural Disasters were celebrated in St. Kitts and Nevis as islanders and Caribbean tourists got to witness the most creative parade in history.

This is by far… the most creative way to say goodbye to an old year as 2008 was welcomed. I was breathtaken!

Hundreds of vibrant children paraded through the streets of Basseterre, St. Kitts on Monday, December 31st in the Cable and Wireless Children’s Carnival Parade in a showcase under the theme “Natural Disasters.”

The parade featured five different zones depicting fifteen NATURAL DISASTERS in which the children so brilliantly portrayed in their flashy, colorful costumes.

Zone One marched about global warming, holey ozone and greenhouse gases.

Zone Two presented earthquake, volcano and bushfire.

Zone Three featured downpour, tsunami and maelstrom.

Zone Four presented hurricane, tornado and sandstorm.

Zone Five unleashed avalanche, below zero and blizzard.

How BRILLIANT and BEAUTIFUL the streets of Basseterre were…

The costumes were designed by Nadella Riley and company of Caribbean Arts production out of Trinidad and Tobago. It was the most beautiful array of colors I have ever seen.

The parade began at the Basseterre High School and the children danced and jumped through the streets in their colorful designs to music by the various bands for over three hours and ended at the Netball city.

The children of Nevis and St. Kitts were all smiles in their vibrant costumes as they paraded the streets of Basseterre, St. Kitts on December 31, 2007.

This is BY FAR one of the coolest and most creative PARADES I have ever witnessed!

I felt truely blessed to have witnessed such a beautiful display of children celebrating the natural ways of our world.
