A nonprofit active orgnization called Nevis Historical and Conservation Society is a major part of protecting the exquisiteness of Nevis.
Their Mission Statement:
“THE NEVIS HISTORICAL AND CONSERVATION SOCIETY EXISTS TO PROMOTE AND FACILITATE THE EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF THE HISTORICAL, CULTURAL AND NATURAL RESOURCES OF THE ISLAND OF NEVIS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL ITS PEOPLE.”
NHCS is one of the most respected and active organizations of its kind in the Caribbean (Archaeology Magazine Jan 1996), was established in 1980 to conserve the natural, cultural and historic fabric of the Island of Nevis and her surrounding sea for all its people. The Society is a nonprofit organization whose sources of income include endowments and pledges, Nevis Island Government, admission fees, donations, grants, business and corporations, museum shop sales, fundraising events and membership fees. Volunteer services are also contributed.
