Nevis Four Seasons Reopening Date

It was set to be reopened by November 1, 2009, but things change! Due to Hurricane Omar last October, the new set reopening date for Nevis Four Seasons Resort is now February 5, 2010, because of construction delays, damage assessments and a change in ownership.

Nevis Four Seasons, a beautiful 196-room resort, has been closed for almost an entire year now. However, Nevis is still a popular place to find some rejuvinating Caribbean R & R.

Travel Weekly got a helpful and insightful quote from the resort’s Director of Marketing, Vo Tomulich, in Travel Weekly, the National Newspaper of the Travel Industry in its online edition of August 25.:

Construction did not begin until June, but now we have two shifts working seven days a week.

Most of the work will be completed by December, but the resort is allowing for “extra time to get the staff back on board and give us a cushion in case of weather delays.

Right now, if someone calls wanting to book, we take their names, quote them the rates but advise them not to book air until our reservations officially open.

These rates are not much different than our 2008 rates at the same time of year. Our lead rate dropped a bit, and the off-season rate is about the same.

The lead rate for a moutainview room in February is $595(US) per room, per night, double. The same room in the off season will start at $295(US).

The Nevis Four Seasons will offer a number of packages in 2010, including a grand reopening package! The resort’s website will post additional information on rates and packages as it becomes available. Don’t miss out on all the Nevis fun!

Nevis Hotels and Owners Commended

The world is well aware that the entire globe has been affected by the economic recession, and of course Nevis was no exception. However, small Nevis Hotels and owners have been commended for efforts and resilience.

They have been staying afloat in these trying times! Nevis Hotels have been and still are preventing mass staff layoffs, unlike many companies these days. Take delight in knowing that the winter season is looking bright for Nevis because of aggressive marketing and persistant positive press coverage.

Alastair Yearwood is the Tourism Advisor to the Nevis Island Administration. He had some things to say about the small hotel industry:

They have continued to operate and they have been conscious in trying to maintain the employment of their workforce and sustain it through a very difficult period. I know Nevis is getting a lot of press coverage in the US and in the UK. For instance, just recently it was in Brides magazine where Nevis was in the top 25 honeymoon destinations in the world and that’s very positive. The more press coverage we can get, the more the word Nevis becomes in the frontal lobe of the travelling public and there is no better advertising than public relations.

So, the tourism outlook is bright, as Nevis Island has been and will continue to take the right steps in the right direction. It’s nice to see that excessive job loss has not been a facor here, in the Nevis Hotels industry!

Yearwood also said:

Once we continue to be in the print media, I am sure we will have an excellent winter season and believe me the hotels are trying. All the hotels have been working with the public relations company for the island offering all sorts of specials to try and boost the number of travellers into Nevis. Hopefully, for the second half of the winter season the Nevis Four Seasons will be open.

Nevis has a very high percentage of return visitors and so you have a core that isn’t going to change much and with the additional publicity that we are getting in the US and the UK, I am sure we are going to see more visitors coming and we are going to see that core base increasing in numbers,” he said.

If your planning for a funfilled Nevis Island Vacation, don’t miss on planning for some fun Nevis Island Activities offered to ALL! ;)

There are beautiful Nevis Hotels, Nevis Resorts and Nevis Villas where you and your honey can enjoy your stay in Nevis Island.
